Jud is a gifted attorney whose service as executive counsel to Governor Perdue and general counsel to the Georgia Department of Education allowed him to develop a wide array of subject-matter expertise, both legal and policy. As a founding partner of Georgia360, Jud put that wide gamut of public-sector experience to work in helping corporate clients navigate the complexity and bureaucracy of state government. Jud specializes in government relations at the state legislature and executive branch, with a particular focus on administrative law and process. Jud maintains his public-affairs focus within the fields of education, the environment (water policy) and transportation.
In addition to Georgia360, Jud is also a founding member of Turner Bachman & Garrett LLC, a law firm specializing in education, legislative and regulatory law, public contracts and procurement, government relations, and litigation. Jud heads the firm’s education practice. In addition, Jud continues to serve as special counsel to Governor Perdue on the Tri-State Water Wars and negotiations with each of Georgia’s neighbors over shared river systems.
Jud received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville, Virginia, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, in Athens, where he served as president of the Student Government Association and was elected Phi Beta Kappa, graduating summa cum laude with highest honors in political science and economics. Jud serves as a member of the board of the Flint River Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Alumni Board of the Honors Program at UGA, and is active in Harvest Point United Methodist Church. He was recently selected by Georgia Trend as one of the State’s “40 Under 40: One of Georgia’s Rising Stars.” Jud lives in Griffin, Georgia, with his wife Courtney and two children, Townsend and Wellesley.
